So you've finally decided to buy a full-size pickup truck, but you're not sure where to look? We've got you covered with a test drive of the 2021 RAM 1500. This RAM truck offers a lot of bang for your buck and its capabilities as well as its sumptuous and versatile interiors make it one of the best on the market. The only difficulty will probably be to choose the variant that will meet all your requirements, because with so many choices, it might not be so obvious. To guide you in this adventure, here is the test drive of the RAM 1500 in its Limited version.

Dazzling performances

This high-range variant of the RAM 1500, which falls between the Limited Longhorn and TRX, starts at just over $72,000. Equipped with a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine that develops 395 horsepower for a torque of 410 lb-ft, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Limited can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 7 seconds, which is not a lot of time considering its imposing size and 2-ton weight. But what impressed us even more was the handling of this behemoth, which is closer to that of a sedan than a big pickup. It proved to be extremely agile, and the acceleration is lively and spontaneous, probably because of the Active-Level air suspension. Moreover, at highway speeds, the RAM 1500 was quite fuel-efficient, averaging 12.5 L/100 km, which is not bad at all, but on the streets of Montreal, expect a higher average rating.

Life on board, real luxury!

The living room-like interior is very spacious with the Crew Cab and provides plenty of room for passengers in the back. Genuine wood and metal trims, luxury full-leather high-back front and rear bucket seats, which are heated and ventilated, wireless charging pad as well as very convenient storage compartments, in short, life aboard the RAM 1500 couldn't be better, not just for the driver, but for the passengers as well. This oasis can be transformed into a cafeteria, a conference room or a dormitory for an afternoon nap, without any problem.

Equipment

Uconnect 4C NAV multimedia center with 12-inch touchscreen and navigation, Sirius XM radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, ParkView rear back-up camera that gives you a crisp, clear picture, push-button start, dual-zone automatic temperature control, hands-free communication with Bluetooth, 12-way power seats including 4-way lumbar adjust, 10-amplified speakers with subwoofer as well as reclining rear seat, not to mention countless storage spaces, including the one under the rear seat, all these elements contribute to an ultimate comfort experience.

One of the features of the RAM that everyone will appreciate and that proves to be very practical is without a doubt its multifunctional tailgate with its 2 asymmetrical 60/40 sections that open like barn doors or like a regular pickup tailgate. You'll definitely like this feature if you have a trailer in the back but want to take something out of the truck bed for example. And how can we not talk about the RamBox cargo management system, which allows you to hide smaller tools for example, or precious items away from prying eyes and the whims of Mother Nature.

So, if you're in need of an ultra competent truck, look no further than your local RAM Des Sources dealership in DDO on Montreal's West Island, and take advantage of your visit to ask about RAM Canada's promotions that are sure to save you a little more.
